China Grove is located twelve miles east of San Antonio and fourteen miles west of La Vernia on Highway 87 in Bexar county. The city encompasses about four square miles and the population, according to the 2010 census, is 1179. China Grove is a Type A general Law City with an aldermanic form of government. China Grove is located in the East Central School District.
CPS Energy is the electric and gas utility provider for China Grove and San Antonio Water System is the water provider. Currently there is no public sewer system. China Grove contracts with the China Grove Fire & Rescue Volunteer Fire Department for fire protection service. Contact City Hall for building and zoning requirements.

FREE LANDFILL DAY - ALLIED WASTE TESSMAN LANDFILL 7000 IH 10 E. ITEMS ACCEPTED, BRUSH AND BULKY ITEMS.
RESIDENT MUST BRING A PICTURE ID AND A COPY OF THEIR RECENT CPS ENERGY BILL SHOWING PAYMENT OF SERVICES. NO CONTRACTOR, COMMERCIAL, OR INDUSTRIAL WASTE WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS EVENT.
Bring brush or unwanted bulky items such as mattresses, appliances, sofas, and car tires (limit 6 per household). Bundle your brush separately from your other household trash. Properly load (distribute weight evenly) and cover your load with a tarp or you may be subject to a fee (Tarp Law-City of San Antonio Ordinance #722272). Customers must wear a safety vest and hard hat at the landfill. If you have questions and/or concerns, please call 3-1-1.
